Marriage Licenses

**Marriage license applications will be scheduled by appointment and staff availability. Please contact the Town Clerk’s office for further information at (585)392-9461.

As of 7/22/2021 the minimum age to get married is 18 years of age.

Proof of Age/Identification

The following documents are required to support information submitted by marriage license applicants.

You must have one of the following age-related documents:

  • Birth Certificates or Certified Copies of Birth Certificates with raised seals
  • Baptismal Record with raised seal and indicate parent’s names
  • Naturalization Record
  • Census Record

You must have one of the following identity-related documents:

  • Drivers License
  • Passport
  • Employment Picture ID
  • Immigration Record

If you do not have this information call our office (585-392-9461) for further instructions.

For any/all previous marriages, the following is required:

  • Death Certificates; Divorce Decrees; or Certificates of Dissolution for all previous marriages

License Fee and Requirements

  • 24 hour waiting period
  • License is valid for 60 days beginning the day after it is issued
  • Any and all divorce decrees or certificates of dissolution of previous marriages are necessary
  • $40 license fee

Additional Information Needed:

  • Social Security Number
  • Parent's names (including mother's maiden name)
  • Country parents were born

Certified Copy of a Marriage Record

Copies are available from the office where you purchased your marriage license. This is not necessarily where you got married.

  • Fill out the Application Form indicate the number of copies you are requesting
  • Return it with a check for $10.00 ($10.00 per copy) made payable to the Town of Parma.
  • Submit a legible photocopy of your driver's license with the signature showing for identification. Your application cannot be processed unless provided

Once this information is received we will process your request and mail you the certified copy(s) you have requested. Please allow a week to ten days (this includes the time it takes for mailing).

One-day Marriage Officiants

The one-day marriage officiant must fill out the application with their information as well as the name, address, and birthdate of the parties to be married as they appear on the marriage license. The one-day marriage officiant MUST apply for the one-day license from the same office that is issuing/issued the couple’s marriage license and the information must match on both applications.

The one-day marriage officiant should schedule their appointment to occur simultaneously or after the couple has obtained their marriage license. If the applicant cannot appear in person, they should fill out the application, have it notarized and mail to the town clerks office after the couple has obtained their marriage license and within sufficient time to process the application prior to the wedding.

The fee for the one-day marriage officiant license is $25.

The one-day marriage officiant license is only valid for the couple specified on the application.
