School Taxes - Payment Instructions

General and By Mail Information for all Payments

  • Payments with a legible U. S. Postmark dated on or before the payment due date will be accepted. Postage meter marks are not considered U. S. postmarks.
  • Allow extra time for Direct Payment Checks (often used for online banking) to arrive. Payments will be returned for incorrect amount paid and/or not received in a timely manner and may result in interest and penalties.
  • Payments will be accepted on the next business day, when the last day of a payment period falls on a non business day (weekend, holiday).
  • No third party checks will be accepted.
  • All checks returned to the Tax Receiver marked insufficient funds or returned for any other reason will be subject to a $20.00 service charge. This fee must be paid before the returned check can be redeposited.

FULL PAYMENTS

  • September 1 - October 1: No interest is due
    Pay the total tax amount due to Donna K. Curry, Receiver of Taxes, by mail or in person to 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, Hilton, NY 14468
  • October 2 - 31: Add 2% interest to the total tax due and include in payment made payable to Donna K. Curry, Receiver of Taxes, by mail or in person to 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, Hilton, NY 14468
  • November 1 - 18: Add 5% interest to total tax due.
    Make check payable to Monroe County Treasurer by mail or in person to 39 West Main Street, Rochester, NY 14614

INSTALLMENTS

  • First Installment:
    Payable Sept. 1 – Sept. 15:
    Pay total due as indicated on stub #1, including service charge to Donna K. Curry, Receiver of Taxes, by mail or in person to 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, Hilton, NY 14468
    Payable Sept. 16 – Sept. 20:
    Add 1% interest to the total due, including service charges on stub #1 and pay to Donna K. Curry, Receiver of Taxes, by mail or in person to 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, Hilton, NY 14468

    If the first installment is not paid by September 20, 2009 the installment plan is no longer available. The full amount of the school tax bill must be paid. See Full Payment Instructions.

  • 2nd Installment & 3rd Installment: Providing the first installment has been paid properly, the remaining installments are payable to the Monroe County Treasurer by mail or in person to 39 West Main Street, Rochester, NY 14614. See the back of your bill for instructions or call the Monroe County Treasury Office at (585) 428-5290.

  • NO PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER NOVEMBER 18. School taxes, accrued interest and penalties unpaid after this date, will be re-levied onto the 2010 Town and County tax bill.

Town & County Tax Payment Instructions

GENERAL AND BY MAIL INFORMATION FOR ALL PAYMENTS

  • Payments will be accepted at the Parma Town Hall, Town Clerk’s Office, 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, P. O. Box 728, Hilton, New York 14468 beginning January 1 through May 31.
  • Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. January through April, Thursday hours will be until 6 p.m.
  • Payments by Mail
    • Payments with a legible valid U. S. Postmark dated on or before the payment due date will be accepted. Postage meter marks are not considered U. S. postmarks.
    • Allow extra time for Direct Payment Checks (often used for online banking) to arrive.
    • Payments not received in a timely manner will result in interest and penalties.
  • Payments by Credit Card or Electronic Check
    • These payments are accepted only via the internet. Go to website www.monroecounty.gov, select “view taxes online”. Then follow the prompts to retrieve your account information and make payment.
    • A 3% fee is charged for use of this service
    • This option is available for Full and Installment Payments only.
  • Payments will be accepted on the next business day, when the last day of a payment period falls on a non business day (weekend, holiday).
  • No third party checks will be accepted.
  • All checks returned to the Tax Receiver marked insufficient funds or returned for any other reason will be subject to a $20.00 service charge. This fee must be paid before the returned check can be re-deposited.

  • January 1 - February 10:

    ***If taxes are unpaid as of aPRIL 30 and a Second Notice of taxes due is processed, an additional charge of $1.00 will be levied and will become a part of the amount due.

  • After May 31: Pay total plus interest to Monroe County Treasurer Call 753-1200 for percentage of interest due.

INSTALLMENT PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Installment payments must be made to Donna K. Curry, Receiver (until May 31) at the Parma Town Hall, 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, P.O. Box 728 Hilton, New York 14468 or the Monroe County Treasurer (after May 31). The first installment must be paid by February 10. If the first installment is not paid by February 10, the total bill plus interest is due.

  • January 1 - February 10: 1st installment paid on or before February 10th is interest free and payable to Donna K. Curry, Receiver

  • February 11 - February 28: 2nd installment is due with 1.5% interest to Donna K. Curry, Receiver

  • March 1 - March 31: 3rd installment due with 3% interest. If 2nd installment was not paid by February 28, both the 2nd & 3rd installment is due with 3% interest. Payment is made to Donna K. Curry, Receiver

  • April 1 – April 30: 4th installment due with 4.5% interest on remaining installment balance. If prior installments are not paid by respective due dates, all installments shall be paid as one unit with 4.5% interest due. Payment is made to Donna K. Curry, Receiver.

    ***If taxes are unpaid as of April 30 and a Second Notice of taxes due is processed, an additional charge of $1.00 will be levied and will become a part of the amount due.

  • May 1 - May 31: Unpaid tax plus 6% interest and $1.00 fee if applicable. Payment is made to Donna K. Curry, Receiver

  • After May 31: Pay total tax plus interest and any fees to Monroe County Treasurer. Call 753-1200 for amount due.

PARTIAL PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Partial payments must be made to Donna K. Curry, Receiver (until May 31) at the Parma Town Hall, 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, P.O. Box 728 Hilton, New York 14468 or the Monroe County Treasurer (after May 31) in the following manner:

  • Initial Payments - An initial payment of 25% of the taxes due plus any accrued interest can be made at any time between January 1 and August 20. Any payment paid on or before February 10 is interest free. An interest charge will be calculated and deducted from any payment made after February 10 according to the schedule below.

  • Subsequent Payments – Any number of subsequent payments of at least $100 can be made anytime between the initial payment and August 20. Any payment paid on or before February 10 is interest free. An interest charge will be calculated and deducted from any payment made after February 10 according to the schedule below.

  • Schedule of Interest on Partial Payments
    • Feb. 11-28…1.5%
    • Mar. 1-31.….3%
    • April 1-30…..4.5%
    • May 1-10..….6%
    • May 11-31….6%, plus $1.00 notice fee
    • After May 31: Pay unpaid tax plus interest to Monroe County Treasurer. Call (585) 753-1200 for amount due.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • CHECKS must be made out CORRECTLY.
  • NO third party CHECKS will be accepted.
  • RETURNED CHECKS - Persons having a check returned to the Receiver marked INSUFFICIENT FUNDS or for ANY OTHER REASON will be charged an additional $20.00 returned check fee. It must be paid before the returned check is redeposited.
